Jeff Asselin is an international touring musician having toured all over Canada, United States and Europe and has been teaching and performing for over 20 years. In 2004, Jeff graduated from Carleton University with a B Mus – Jazz Performance (High Honors) and a minor in Business. He has also studied and continues to study with some of the best drum teachers in Canada and the USA. Since 2007 Jeff has been studying with thecritically acclaimed NYC drummer and teacher Ian Froman.
Eager to pass on his knowledge Jeff opened up the Jeff Asselin’s Drum Academy. Along with his drumming staff they have taught hundreds of students from the ages of 5 to 60 years young. Through years of his own training Jeff has developed his unique style and program of teaching. This program can be adapted to all styles of music – from rock to big band to blues and jazz. Since 2009 Jeff has been on staff with Carleton University as a performance coach for their jazz program.
All of the staff at Jeff Asselin’s Drum Academy are recognized teachers through the Vic Firth PDT program. They also hold degrees (Bachelor or higher) in Education and/or Music
.
For the last two decades, he has been fortunate enough to study with some of the best drummers in Canada/USA - Larry Graves, Chuck Burows, Ian Froman, Barry Elms, Chris McCann, Terry Clark, Peter Beaudoin, Aldo Mazza, and Ari Hoenig.

Jim Norris was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
Born to musical parents, he became heavily involved in music during high school, playing trumpet and then drums. He studied music at University of Toronto and then played professionally for 7 years, recording and touring with bands Taxi, Tote Family and Seadog.
In 1979, he launched Canadian Musician magazine in Toronto. Later that year, the newly formed company, Norris-Whitney Communications, launched Canadian Music Trade magazine. NWC published the printed programs for the Juno Awards, the Toronto Arts Awards, The Canadian Stage Band Festival, The CASBY Awards, the Canadian Country Music Awards and the Toronto Music Awards. In 1983, NWC published the 1stedition of Music Directory Canada. In the 1980s, NWC launched a distribution service, Music Books Plus, specializing in books, videos, software on music, pro audio and lighting.
In 1990 Norris-Whitney launched Professional Sound magazine and in 1997 launched Professional Lighting and Production magazine.
NWC ceased opeartions in October 2023
In 2023, with partner Maureen Jack, he launcxhed Entertainment Marketer and Entertainment Spotlight
He has conducted seminars and webinars on Advertising, the Internet, the Music Business, Self Promotion and database marketing online and at trade shows in Canada and the U.S.
